Air Suspension
The air suspension designs from BMW models feature height adjustable suspension controlled by the driver, suitable for making it easier to enter the vehicle, clear bumps, or clear rough terrain. Computer-operated vents on the air springs, suspension sensors, and an onboard air compressor allow the system to maintain ride height and vary the suspension's ride characteristics.

An air spring is a rubber and fabric bladder that holds air pressure to support a load and isolate passengers and cargo from the shock of motion caused by road irregularities. Air bags replace the coil springs, not supplement them as is often thought.
